Tineco Pure One Or Dyson V11 – Which Is The Best Cordless?

Tineco Pure One S12 Vs Dyson V11Dyson has long been known as one of the best vacuum companies in the home cleaning industry. Innovative, powerful, and affordable are just a few words that are used to describe their vacuums. Tineco on the other hand is not as well known at the current time but that is quickly changing. They have a growing lineup of cordless models that compare quite well to anything currently out there including those from Dyson. The Pure One S12 is packed with technology and power, making it a direct competitor to the ultra powerful V11 stick. How does it stack up in a variety of important categories?

We will compare these 2 head to head in a minute but before we start it’s important to mention just how far the cordless vacuum cleaner has come over the past several years. Lithium ion batteries have made their way into a lot of products you use around the home including weedeaters, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and of course vacuums. This type of battery puts out tremendous power on a full charge and provides fade-free suction power up until it is drained. And speaking of that, lithium ion lasts much longer on a charge even when vacuuming carpets. You can now buy a cordless cleaner no matter what type of floors you have in your home.

Tineco Pure One S12 – Features (Overview)

The unique Pure One S12 stick from Tineco is the first offering that they call their ‘Smart’ cordless vacuums. This new technology applies to their battery management, suction power, filter cleaning, LED display, and more. It’s really designed to make it easier to use the vacuum as you don’t have to worry about settings or maintenance as the machine will handle it for you (or let you know when any maintenance is required). This is a big step forward for the company and a major reason why the Pure One can compete with the likes of Dyson or any other well known brand.

Main features of the S12:

  • All-In-One LED Display shows you battery information, suction setting, Wi-Fi status, brush roll tangling, and even the amount of dust particles in the carpeting.
  • iLoop™ Dust Sensor detects the amount of dust/dirt and will adjust the suction power accordingly. This is not only for deep cleaning the carpet but also for saving power as it only uses what is necessary to get the job done.
  • Smart Rinse Filter Cleaning Tool cleans the filter instantly to help keep suction constant, allowing you to clean more efficiently.
  • Direct Drive Multi-Tasker Power Brush works like a 2 in 1 head as it has one brush for both hard floors (tile, linoleum, …) and carpets. You can seemlessly travel between rooms without changing attachments or settings.
  • Max Power Setting lets you boost suction up to 150 air watts of power for deep and thorough cleaning as needed.
  • 500W Rating Power is more than enough for thick and high pile carpets.

Dyson V11 – Quick Overview

The V11 cordless from Dyson is another strong offering in their cordless lineup that checks all the boxes. It has extreme power (even more than their stellar V10) while the batteries provide a longer runtime. The biggest difference between this and prior models like the V8 and V10 is it comes with their Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) technology which is constantly detecting brush bar resistance to adjust the suction power. It actually does this hundreds of times per second so the reaction is pretty much instant. Not only does this help you deep clean carpets but it also saves the battery for those times when it is needed most.

Other features found on the V11 include:

  • 2 in 1 High Torque Head has stiff bristles that deep clean your carpeting while the carbon fiber filaments attract fine dust on hard flooring.
  • 3 Suction Modes include Auto, Boost, and Eco to suit any surface or application you will find around your house. Auto is especially adept at sensing how much power to put down to the head.
  • Large LCD Display shows the performance in real time. This includes remaining battery life, current power mode, filter maintenance, and more.
  • Large Lithium Ion Battery contains nickel cobalt aluminum cathodes to boost power by 20% over their prior generation of batteries.
  • Improved Digital Motor spins at about 125,000 RPMs to generate massive amounts of G force inside the air pathways.

Now that we had a chance to look at both of these cordless vacuums we can compare them side by side in all the categories that matter, so you can decide which one is best for your home.

Filtration

Both the Dyson V11 and the Tineco Pure One S12 are designed for whole household cleaning of all floor types. Since this includes carpets where dust mites love to hide, you really need a high quality HEPA filter (or filters) to trap them before the air is returned back into your home. Both of these competitors come with HEPA filtration as well as a fully sealed system to make sure nothing can escape once it is trapped. This was a big problem with prior generation bagless vacuums that would do a good job of capturing dust but not so much at keeping it inside the collection bin. Luckily for us that is a thing of the past.

The Tineco has a really unique feature that almost makes the filter ‘maintenance free’. It comes with what they call their Smart Filter Self Cleaning tool which cleans the filter automatically with no rinsing, in almost no time. This is about as hands free as you can get, and it keeps the suction power much stronger as their is a constant flow of air throughout.

Dyson has a more standard setup where you can rinse the filter when it becomes dirty. Since the V11 is a Smart vacuum it will remind you when it is time, a big improvement of prior models. As long as you keep the filter free of dirt particles the suction will remain powerful, among the best in the industry (more on that below). So the choice in this category really comes down to preference. Both vacuums have great HEPA filtration but are cleaned in a slightly different manner.

Suction Power

The Dyson V11 is improved over their ultra powerful V10, coming in at about 20% more suction power. The digital motor is very similar and actually spins at about the same RPMs (125,000) but the airflow is improved and the blades have a newer design. All of this makes it the most powerful cordless vacuum you can buy as it pulls over 150 air watts on the highest setting. This is more than most full sized corded uprights for comparison sake.

The Tineco Pure One is no slouch in the power department either. During normal use it has ample suction for all types of floors though it won’t pull as hard as the Dyson. The main difference here is the smart technology that enables it to detect when there are larger amounts of embedded dust particles to adjust suction accordingly. This gives you the extra boost you need without having to hit the Boost mode like you would on the V11 (though Dyson’s Auto mode is pretty adept at this as well). Not only does it save on battery life but it also makes the Pure One behave like a much more powerful vacuum than it really is. This is the future of cordless vacuums and a huge selling point of the Tineco.

Battery Technology

Batteries are very important when you are comparing two different cordless stick vacuum cleaners. Dyson has always been at the forefront of battery innovation and it’s no surprise that their V11 has their best offerings yet. When compared to the V10 it is a larger, higher capacity lithium ion unit with nickel-cobalt aluminum cathodes that deliver 20% more suction. The battery is designed to be more powerful but more efficient which really fits in with the direction the industry is going. They are focusing their efforts on cordless vacuums that can perform entire household cleaning, essentially replacing the corded models of old. But while their battery technology is second to none there is one flaw…it is non-removable so you have to charge it while it is still in the vacuum.

The Tineco Pure One S12 also comes with lithium ion technology but the difference is you get 2 removable batteries, each rated at 2,000 mAh. These detachable offerings can be charged at any time so you can clean with one while charging the other. The total runtime between the 2 is about 80 minutes so you can handle all cleaning chores at once. Should the need arise you can also buy a replacement battery without the need to purchase a whole new cleaner. In our minds this is a big advantage and one that we hope Dyson incorporates in their lineup in the future.

Additional Comments/Final Thoughts

There is so much to like about both the Dyson V11 and the Tineco Pure One S12. The Tineco has so much SMART technology baked in that you will forget it is actually a vacuum cleaner. It senses and adjusts on the fly, has a wifi camera that works with their phone app, and even has a holder for your smart phone so you can watch movies or listen to music while cleaning. Everything about it is built with Smart technology in mind, as their engineers really put thought into what the modern homeowner would like. But all of those features wouldn’t matter if the S12 didn’t clean very well, and fortunately that isn’t the case. The Tineco is excellent at cleaning all types of floors and surfaces. The Dyson V11 is a true workhorse, a powerful vacuum that does everything right. It too has an Auto Mode that can detect dirt to adjust suction power on the fly. It doesn’t have as many Smart features as the Tineco but it does have a large LCD screen to report on the current status of the machine. The digital motor is second to none in terms of power and longevity, while the dual purpose cleaning head moves seemlessly from one type of floor to the next. In terms of cleaning ability you won’t find a better cordless vacuum. Click here to read online consumer reviews and compare prices at our favorite store.
